Along with Arsenal, there have been many other transfers so far this summer, including controversial striker Luis Suarez going to Barcelona who I thought were under financial fair play, but obviously not, because they spent a staggering £75 million for him!
This has left Liverpool in the same situation as Tottenham last season when they lost Gareth Bale to Real Madrid and then bought many new players to make the squad more balanced. However it turned out that they had been better with Bale which I think will happen to Liverpool this season without Suarez. They have bought new players like Adam Lallana but Suarez is irreplaceable and overall I think they will fare worse this season as Tottenham did because it takes a while for new players to adapt to a different league.
Real Madrid have also spent big this summer by signing the star and golden boot winner of the World Cup James Rodriguez from Monaco. As well as signing Germany and Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos. Bayern Munich also have bought Robert Lewandowski from domestic rivals Borussia Dortmund to add to their signing of World Cup final hero Mario Gotze last season.
In the premier league Chelsea have spent well buying Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona after he knew that Arsenal didn’t need him! Along with buying a much needed striker in Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid and surprisingly former legend Didier Drogba who I think still has quality in him and is certainly better than Torres at the moment. They have also bought Filipe Luis from Atletico Madrid to replace Ashley (Cashly) Cole who has settled in to his new team Roma well by standing away from them in their team photo which has got much social media attention by putting him in famous photos!
Man. City have bought quite well under the restraint of financial fair play which they definitely deserve after spending £600 million in the past few years which I think is very unfair and they shouldn’t have ever been allowed to spend that amount of money in the first place! They have bought Arsenal’s Mr reliable Bacary Sagna and midfielder Fernando along with the shock of the transfer window so far Frank Lampard who had left Chelsea as a legend to join New York City but they are owned by Man. City so they were able to buy him on loan! This is due to the American league starting at a different time to the English league.
Finally Manchester United who under new boss Louis Van Gaal have bought left back Luke Shaw from ‘selling club’ Southampton and Ander Herrera who David Moyes wanted to sign last year but failed! Talking of Southampton they have fallen apart this summer after a great season last year! Their manager Pocchetino has gone to Tottenham, their star player Lallana has gone to Liverpool along with Striker Rickie Lambert and defender Lovren. As well as youngsters shaw and Chambers who has gone to Arsenal and is a good player in my opinion as he is very versatile in that he can play as a right back, centre back or a centre midfielder. They need to stop selling now otherwise they will be in real trouble this season!
