What a day it has been for sport.
Firstly, there was the Belgium Grand Prix where Lewis Hamilton finished 1st once again with his team-mate Rosberg coming 2nd again! It was a solid race from Hamilton who extends his lead at the top of the drivers’ championship.
There was also the Athletics World Championship in Bejing where there was the battle of good against evil. I am talking of course about the fastest man in the world ever in Usain Bolt against former drug taker American, Justin Gatlin. It was a sensational race which was so close. But good did overcome evil in the end as Bolt managed to just beat him. What a legend he is and it is Rio next year for him now!
Obviously the Premier League was also on with last year’s champions but struggling this year, Chelsea, narrowly beating West Brom 3-2 with captain John Terry getting sent off. He was controversially taken off by Mourinho last week and he started this week instead of Cahill but ended up being red carded so maybe Mourinho should have not even started him. But they just had enough to win their 1st game of the season with new signing from Barcelona, Pedro, scoring on his debut.
Man City then played against Everton in a close game. Lukaku had a few good chances but Man City were too strong and have really started well this season. They won 2-0 so are top of the table and are definitely the team to beat so far.
And lastly England played the last game in the Ashes and lost so it was 3-2 overall. But they had already won so it did’t matter and Cook and co lifted the small urn with newly ranked no. 1 batsman in the world Joe Root getting player of the tournament. This also meant that I couldn’t watch it tomorrow as we had tickets for it but it is supposed to rain a lot so we wouldn’t have seen much anyway.
What a day it was and it is strange how sport always comes at once where sometimes there isn’t that much on at all!
Next up is Arsenal against Liverpool tomorrow which I will be at and hopefully we will get the result in what should be a tough game.
