Our biggest game of the season so far and what a game it was!
A win would put us near the top and on the same points as Man United but many people weren’t optimistic following the dreadful game in midweek.
This was another great chance for the players to bounce back and win for the fans as well as for manager Arsene Wenger who has been under some pressure (even though Mourinho doesn’t think so!) It was also a chance to really show that we are genuine title contenders this season.
The players, which included first choice keeper Petr Cech again, must have known what was at stake as they started with a bang to say the least. We attacked them from the very start and they didn’t know what hit them.
Only six minutes had gone before the 1st goal where Mesut Ozil drilled a low cross for Alexis Sanchez to cheekily slot home. A great goal and a great start and this was followed by another goal only 30 and a bit seconds later!
A classic Arsenal fast flowing passing move lead to Walcott using his electrifying pace to get in behind where he could have scored himself only to see that Ozil was in a better position with more space. Ozil calmly slotted the ball in the net and it was amazingly 2-0 after just 7 minutes.
Everyone then had a bit of time to relax and take it in only until a third goal just over 10 minutes after. Walcott again assisted to Sanchez who was in a lot of space only to cut inside and go past Man United’s defenders and then he hammered it past a helpless De Gea. It was the best goal out of the three and the crowd went absolutely mad. It was definitely the best atmosphere I have experienced for a while at the Emirates.
3 goals in 20 minutes and Ramsey had a great chance to make it 4 but it finished 3-0 at half time and I for one couldn’t believe it at all.
The second half was a lot different to the first because Arsenal could rightfully afford to relax and Man United dominated the possession as a result.
They had a few good chances only for Cech to make some world class saves fully justifying his place in the team. We also had a few chances to score even more. Giroud shot straight at De Gea before the Ox unfortunately hit the bar right at the end.
This didn’t matter though because all the work was done in the first half and I think this was our best performance of the season. Every player played really well and now it is just a question of can we keep this up for the whole season and be more consistent than other years?
If we can and avoid loads of key injuries then I really think that this might finally be our year in the league and I think Wenger and me would really deserve it after all the work he has done in his 19 years at the club!
