Arsenal v Everton Review

What a week.

After the heroics in the midweek it was back to the Premier League and a win would put us top of the league! At least for a day that is before the Manchester derby.

So we were home again and up against Everton who are a very good team with talented players such as Lukaku, Barkley and Deulofeu. It definitely wouldn’t be an easy game but when is it ever an easy game in the Premier League?

A few changes in the line up as Gabriel replaced Mertesacker who was ill, Chamberlain replaced the injured Ramsey and Giroud replaced Walcott up front which is always a tough decision. But Giroud had scored a few goals against Everton in the past and played well in midweek so perhaps deserved it.

With the rain coming down hard the game was quite even with both teams going for it and it looked to be a stalemate at half time until Giroud proved why it was the right decision to start him. In-form Ozil made a great assist as he always does to pick him out and Giroud guided it past Howard.

This really spurred us on and we got a second soon after. This time Cazorla whipped in a great free kick for Koscielny to head home. So 2-0 and looking to be going top of the table.

This was only until Ross Barkley made a good run before hitting a shot that took a wicked deflection off Gabriel and went past a helpless Cech. This turned the game and it was 2-1 at half time.

In the second half Everton came out trying to find an equaliser and they nearly did. Lukaku hit the bar and Cech made a match winning save once again. He really can win us 15 points like a lot of people said at the start of the season.

We also had chances to kill the game off with Ozil hitting the post and Giroud hitting the bar. But after a nervy end we managed to hang on to 2-1 and go top of the league as a result.

Who would have thought it after the worst possible start of the season against West Ham? We really have bounced back from it apart from the game we must not talk about against the team we must not talk about!

Actually I will talk about them because I think they are exactly where they deserve to be at the moment. Chelsea need to stop moaning and start playing like a team again. I think Mourinho needs to calm down as well and although I don’t like them I do expect them to finish near the top still.

But who cares about Chelsea. Arsenal are playing a lot better – we just need to be consistent now and keep playing the way we are until the end of the season. We can do it!
