After the great game in midweek I was very confident that we would beat bottom side Aston Villa.
Following our champion’s league escape we must have gained a lot of confidence and they are lacking confidence so if If you are a betting man you would be foolish to bet against Arsenal.
As we know this season though every team is beating everyone and there have been many shocks.
We started with exactly the same line up and this is good as the team can settle. For once we are not getting any injuries as well so it is just a case of getting everyone back now.
The game started brightly with a few attacks before fit again Theo Walcott was brought down in the box by ex Spurs player Alan Hutton. The Villa fans obviously thought it was harsh but I have definitely seen them given (and the sky sports commentators seemed to agree.)
So up stepped in-form Giroud who had scored a well taken penalty in midweek and he did so once again to put us into the lead.
We then followed with a second nearer half time with – you’ve guessed it – another Ozil assist! This time it was Aaron Ramsey who tapped it in showing again why he is better in the centre of midfield.
So 2-0 at half time and if you weren’t sure before the game it was almost certain that Arsenal would win considering the forms of the teams.
The second half was less eventful as we didn’t need to play that well and allowed Villa to play a bit. They had a few good chances but we always looked quite solid and had chances ourselves to kill the game off. It did however end 2-0 and another crucial 3 points in this crazy season.
Petr Cech ended up equalling David James’ record for the most clean sheets and must surely beat it some time soon. Hopefully it will be against Man City in the massive game next week!
Leicester are playing tomorrow but until then at least we are now top of the league.
