Arsenal v Bournemouth: Last Game Of The Year

After our worst performance of the season we needed to bounce back quickly and a win would send us top.

As expected because of the many games Wenger made a few changes to freshen things up. Chamberlain, Chambers, Gibbs and Gabriel replaced Campbell, Flamini, Monreal and Koscielny and it seemed to work.

We absolutely dominated Bournemouth who have started life in the premier league very well. We had all the possession and looked very comfortable which was unusual especially this season where there have been many surprises.

We were rewarded for our dominance with a goal and a surprising one as it was from a corner. As all Arsenal fans know we have never been good from corners but with Ozil taking them anything is possible.

It is definitely the best we have been at corners for a while and Gabriel got on the end of Ozil’s meaning another assist for him and an important first goal of the game. It was Gabriel’s first goal for Arsenal and it should have been two when Mertesacker missed an absolute sitter which was laughable.

1-0 at half time and I couldn’t remember such a relaxed game where Bournemouth didn’t create anything. Perhaps they were tired and who can blame them for the ridiculous festive schedule. But we are used to playing a lot and we also have the quality to be able to rotate players unlike them.

The second half was very similar with Bournemouth not looking dangerous at all and we controlled the game. Ozil was dictating it and he got his reward with a goal (not a assist for once) after a great flick assist from Giroud. He took it well and it settled the game once and for all.

Ozil in fact created more chances (9) in a Premier League game than any other player this season which shows just how good he is. He has even been compared to Bergkamp and has definitely been our player of the season.

Cech also finally broke the premier league clean sheet record which he fully deserves and along with Ozil he has been so important for us.

Despite having many chances we could only get the two goals which flattered Bournemouth to be honest. But we did bounce back and got the 3 points to go top for at least until tomorrow.

Tomorrow’s game is fellow title contenders Leicester against Man City so hopefully we will stay top for new year!
