Arsenal v Southampton Review

After the win at Watford we were hoping to get another three points to catch the leaders and get a first win at home in front of the fans. Again I wasn’t able to go but I saw it in a bar (again) but this time in Malia!

New signings Mustafi and Lucas Perez were making their debuts in a game we should be winning.

The game started badly for us as a Southampton free kick hit the bar before hitting Cech (very unlucky) and going into his own net putting them ahead.

We however got an equaliser 10 minutes later and it was a surprise scorer in captain Koscielny and it was even more surprising in the way he scored it as it wasn’t a typical defender header but a sensational (goal of the season?) overhead kick. The goal just showed once again how good Koscielny is and I think he is one of the best in the world now.

Mustafi looked very good alongside Koscielny and I think these two have to be the first choice pairing this season. Lucas Perez on the other hand struggled but he needs time and he did show his pace which was a lot faster than Giroud which shows we have something different now up front.

So with the game level at 1-1 we looked for the winner and as time went on neither team could get it. Fortunately for us though we had a bit of luck on our side as substitute Giroud was ‘fouled’ in the box and we were awarded a last minute penalty.

Up stepped Walcott… I mean Cazorla and he made no mistake in scoring and getting us three crucial points.
